Lady Gaga – Joanne.  How can we start by talking about anything else? LADY GAGA released a new album last month! THE Lady Gaga!! The album is called Joanne and it is amazing. Gaga tries a new style that contrasts her previous album – ARTPOP. Jumping from a folk rock feel to Gaga’s famous pop sound and  then finally landing on almost a show tune vibe, this album seems to satisfy a lot of expressive needs for Gaga. The album title and accompanying title song pay tribute to the singer’s late aunt who Gaga cites as inspiration for much of her work. The ballad “Angel Down” is a memorial to the late Trayvon Martin who was a black 17 year old killed by police in 2012. “How could I not say something?” Gaga responded when asked why she wrote the song.  “Dancin’ In Circles” and “Perfect Illusion” are reminiscent of the old Gaga. “Come To Mama” and “Hey Girl” are throwbacks to her days before becoming Lady Gaga and was still performing as Stefani Germanotta – the young Italian girl from New York with a dream of ending up on Broadway someday. “A-YO,” “John Wayne,” and “Diamond Heart” point at a new Gaga – insisting that vocals be raw and real, guitars be featured, and fun be had. We recommend this one for sure!

Melanie C – Version Of Me. This former Spice Girl is back and better than ever with a hot new dance album! Every song shows off why we all loved Sporty Spice in the first place and shows us why we should continue to love her even more each year! Check out the CD by clicking HERE!

Michael Buble – Nobody But Me. He’s back and better than ever! In his ninth studio album, Buble features 3 original songs and 9 covers. He says that this is the most fun he has ever had writing an album and we can tell! A little bit pop, a little bit jazz, a whole lot of good music! Check it out by clicking HERE!

NEW VINYL ARRIVALS

Frank Ocean – Blond. The wait is over. Frank Ocean’s album Blond is finally out on vinyl as an import version, pressed on colored vinyl! The album features guest vocals from Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Yung Lean, André 3000, Sebastian, James Blake, and Kim Burrell among others, and production from Frank Ocean himself, as well as Pharrell Williams, Tyler, The Creator, Jamie xx, Rostam Batmanglij, Om'Mas Keith, and many more. David Bowie – Low. Now in stock on vinyl, a 2016 reissued import of Low pressed on orange vinyl! This 1977 album is one of our favorites from Bowie, written during a tough time in the late artist’s life. This album marked his unique transition into ambient and electronic music.

The days are getting shorter, the sky is getting gloomier, and the air is getting colder. That can only mean one thing – it’s fall! Whether you’re someone who loves fall or someone who needs a little help getting into the spirit, there is music to bring out the best of the autumn spirit. This post will highlight a few of our autumn favorites at Borderline to help get you into the season!

Brian’s #1 FAVORITE fall band is The Neighbourhood. The dark tones contrasting the fast beats with the singer’s soft, whiney voice droning over the songs makes it the absolute perfect band to listen to on a rainy fall day. Look no further than their first single, “Sweater Weather.” The title is telling enough. Both of The Neighbourhood’s full length albums are available on vinyl at Borderline.

Another Borderline favorite for fall is MADONNA – Chilled, vol 1 & 2! Listen to Madonna in a whole new way with these gorgeous, stripped down versions of her greatest hits! “Beautiful Stranger” features only ambient vocals and a single organ while “Ray Of Light” has full band instruments and almost feels like smooth jazz. The best part of this series is that it features ALL MADONNA’S ACTUAL VOCALS! That’s right, these aren’t covers. They’re chill remixes that couldn’t be any COOLER!  Play this CD on a cold morning with a cup of coffee, or in the background of an evening with some friends over and a bottle of wine. Have you ever had that moment when you’re sitting in a cab or a bus while it’s raining, you’re looking out the window, and the music matches the moment perfectly so you feel like you’re in a music video? (Or that one scene from Lindsey Lohan’s remake of The Parent Trap?) So have we. The perfect album for that moment – Strange Little Birds by the band Garbage. We know you’ve heard Garbage before, and this 2016 album is possibly their best. A little softer than some of their past releases, but still packing a nice punch. Finally, the kings of fall weather music – My Chemical Romance. TWO of their albums were re-released this month. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge was included in the Ten Bands, One Cause charity fundraiser for which ten albums are reissued on PINK VINYL with the proceeds benefitting breast cancer patients and their caretakers. Also released this month – The Black Parade/Living With Ghosts 10^th anniversary LP Vinyl Box Set! Both of these are available in store and sound PERFECT on vinyl. Great for a dark fall night as Halloween approaches.

September Update

In Stock Now!

July brought two exciting new REMIX COMPILATIONS. The first being Listen Up! Vol. 101. Remixes featuring songs by Adele, Zayn, J Lo, Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Nick Jonas, and more. This compilation is available as both a continuous and non-continuous mix. A perfect compilation of summer jams for end-of-summer road trips, parties, or just the commute to and from work!

The second remix compilation was PRIDE 2016! Released the same week as the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, this compilation celebrates LOVE and what it means to be gay.  Remixes, some previously unreleased, feature songs by MADONNA, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, Diana Ross, Deee-lite, and more. The must-have remix compilation of 2016!

The most exciting release this August was the much anticipated new BRITNEY SPEARS album – Glory. Available as a DELUXE EDITION CD, Britney brought her best this time around with what is being called her “best album yet” by critics around the world! Highly danceable but also very modern – Britney seems to not have aged a bit, and she is definitely at the highest point in her career so far! Love it.

Barbra Streisand struck again with her 11^th #1 album, her 35^th album altogether. Perfectly titled “Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway,” Barbra finds herself among the likes of big movie stars such as Alec Baldwin, Anne Hathaway, Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Jackman, Jamie Foxx, and more singing the best hits Broadway has to offer! Babs, you know we love you!

Fresh off the wax press and now available on VINYL: Beyonce – Lemonade, Drake – Views, Prince – The Black Album, and MADONNA 1983-1992 albums – remastered on 180-Gram Vinyl!

New Order

Remember New Order's amazing 2015 release - Music Complete??  They've re-released it with extended versions and remixes of the same songs called Complete Music!  This double CD features extended versions of all tracks from New Order's 2015 album: Music Complete. These mixes have been compiled into a new version of the album titled Complete Music.Complete Music was released on CD and digital formats on 13 May 2016. Click HERE to check it out!

Record Store Day!

This Saturday, April 16, is RECORD STORE DAY 2016 and Borderline Music is an official participant! We'll be opening the door at 9am. New Releases!

One of our favorite new releases this month is LIGHTS - MIDNIGHT MACHINES. Canadian Electro-Pop star LIGHTS strikes gold by reimagining songs off of her Juno Award winning album - LITTLE MACHINES - by making them acoustic, atmospheric, and super chill. The album includes six acoustic versions of songs off of the parent album including the hit single "Up We Go," as well as two brand new songs. This album is perfect for a night in with a loved one, a dinner party with friends, or just relaxing at the end of a long work day. 5 stars: would definitely recommend! Midnight Machines is available on CD and LIMITED EDITION CLEAR VINYL.

One of the most exciting releases this month was the brand new PET SHOP BOYS record - SUPER!  Celebrating 30 years of making music, the Pet Shop Boys return with an album of short stories set to both modern and nostalgic sounds. This album, a sure classic, makes you want to get up and dance and sing along while reminiscing the 90's. Available on CD and Vinyl. Click anywhere in this paragraph to be taken to our store!

Speaking of nostalgia, what do Frank Sinatra, the B-52's, Queen, and Beyonce all have in common? -- They were all influences on Panic! At the Disco's latest release - DEATH OF A BACHELOR. They're not the same pop-punk group you remember from ten years ago -- in fact, they aren't even a "group" anymore. Frontman Brendon Urie has taken full control of the operation and proven that he has what it takes to carry on alone. This album is fun, weird, pop, rock, jazz, modern, classic, and obviously - very eclectic! Available on CD and VINYL now. Check it out!

Any new MADONNA products, Borderline? You betchya! Check out EMMY & THE EMMYS CD in our store by clicking anywhere in this paragraph!  Emmy & The Emmys was a group Madonna formed in the late 70's/Early 80's. These recordings were made between 1979 and 1981 and they are GOOD!  Some are studio tracks, others are demos and live recordings. The audio quality of some of the live recordings is poor, but this CD is a perfect addition to any Madonna fan's collection!
